Crossing the floor (This hall breathes)

Thursday, June 1 at 11:00am — Saturday, June 3 at 4:00pm

Crossing the Floor (This hall breathes) is a temporary art installation that reveals Robbie Rowlands’ rich artistic investigations that have informed his idea for a major new permanent sculpture commissioned as part of the Broadmeadows Town Hall redevelopment project.

Rowlands’ site-specific art practice engages directly with the structure and fabric of the hall, revealing qualities that sit on the periphery of our awareness or are often unseen.

This exhibition will be situated in the supper room space, which is soon be closed for renovation as part of hall’s $23.2million redevelopment.

The exhibition will feature site-specific video and sound works developed through the research period and a delicately cut section of the supper room floor that will reveal the preserved subsurface of the hall’s fifty-year history.
