Felix Wilson's research project explores the capacity of a photographic visual poetics to investigate night-time encounters between human and nonhuman animals in urban spaces and considers the wider set of ecological relations occurring in such moments of encounter. In the illumination of the city at night an ecology of connections can be glimpsed, drawing together the deep time of brown coal with the present moment through the long wires of the electrical grid. Working from case studies of Melbourne and Berlin, the project proposes a method of visualising our ecological crises through moments of encounter and understanding our multitudinous relationships and dependencies through images.
