Please join us to celebrate Robyn Phelan’s PhD Examination Exhibition: Compressing Atmosphere: ceramic encounters between clay, body and site

This PhD identifies compression, the decisive touch and resulting mark of the artist’s body on clay, as a potent way to consider practice-led research. Compressive action is revealed as both a method of making and a conceptual lens through which to investigate material and site-driven affective outcomes. A creative condition of atmosphere under compression, is embraced as a way for a ceramic practice to perceive, synthesise and critique cultural, social and environmental events as embodied material experiences.
