Neika Lehman — Vice Chancellor’s Pre-doctoral Indigenous Fellow
The School of Art welcomes our second Vice Chancellor’s Pre-doctoral Indigenous Fellow.
Neika Lehman's practice-based research will focus on the filmic representation of Country and social impact of collaborative filmmaking and media technology at Tiagarra Cultural Centre in Devonport, lutruwita | Tasmania.
Over the past 5 years, Neika has worked as a sessional academic in the Australian Indigenous Studies Program at the University of Melbourne, with additional projects across writing, editing, curating, film practice and research. They were a participant in the 2020 Next Wave Festival program, have curated and exhibited in several shows between Narrm | Melbourne and nipaluna | Hobart, and have published recent poetry, essays and criticism in Art + Australia, The Saturday Paper, Cordite, Overland, the Australian Poetry Journal, among others.
Neika grew up in nipaluna | Hobart and descends from the Trawlwoolway peoples of Tebrakunna Country.
