On behalf of the RMIT School of Art, it is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Kate Daw, a much-loved member of the Melbourne art community. Kate's many contributions to contemporary art, both in Australia and overseas; her outstanding work as an educator and leader in the sector; and, her deep, indeed foundational engagement with the art world will be profoundly missed.

We were fortunate to work with Kate when she completed her Masters degree; and most recently, on the shared RMIT / VCA ACUADS conference in 2019. I was lucky to speak with her earlier this year to share ideas on how our art schools could respond to COVID19: as ever, Kate was a joy, overflowing with ideas and energy, generous and wise.

Our deepest sympathies to her family, friends and colleagues.
