Dr Ray Cook
Dr Ray Cook, program manager Bachelor of Arts (Photography) Honours, lecturer in photography.
Over 30 years Ray Cook has used photography and performance to interpret shifting queer realities in the context of increasing legitimacy. The work has focussed on the experience of HIV/AIDS, queer generational dissonance and connections between the culture of late capitalism and identity. Between 1988 and 1993 Ray operated Brisbane’s first Photomedia specific ARI to promote experimental practice and was a founding management board member of the Queensland Centre for Photography. Ray’s work has been exhibited extensively in Australia as well as in the US, Europe, Mexico and Russia.
