Dr Richard Harding

Dr Richard Harding is the Print Imaging Practice Studio Coordinator and Senior Lecturer within the Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) and the Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) Honours in the School of Art.

Richard Harding is best known for his research into the homosexual closet through installation practice. His research examines sexual orientation, masculinity and codes of representation to unpack current perceptions of liberation and oppression.

Harding’s art practice is informed by architectural and queer theory utilising print media, analogue and digital, as a vehicle for an ongoing art practice. He has produced two-dimensional, installation, video and object based works. He has recently curated the major print exhibition Out of the Matrix presented at RMIT University Gallery.

Harding is part of the trans-Tasman “News Network Project” a group of artists who are linked in making artworks that engage in social comment through a print based practice encouraging a diversity of discussion of social issues and contemporary fine art.

He has been involved with the Print Council of Australia (PCA) for many years and is currently a committee member holding the office of Secretary.
