This research converts the material processes of blacksmithing into contemporary sculptural practice through a series of conceptual shifts. Through studio-based investigations into how techniques in blacksmithing contribute to sculptural practice, this research explored the historical and material agencies of blacksmithing and sculpture, including the agencies of material processes acknowledged in Actor-Network Theory. These explorations led to an understanding of sculptural practice with a less formal and more material outcome.

Opening Thursday 4 July 5–7pm
Viewing Friday 5 July 10am–4pm
