The School of Art plays a pivotal role in accelerating RMIT’s ambitions to become the leading Australian university in Asia. It has long established translational partnerships with The Hong Kong Art Centre/ Hong Kong Art School to deliver Bachelor of Arts and Master of Fine Arts programs in Hong Kong. Building on these experiences and strengths, agreements are also in place with East China Normal University (ECNU) for Masters by Coursework programs in Public Art and Arts Managements, allowing students to study in both China and Melbourne and be awarded degrees from both institutions.

Interdisciplinarity: Creative Education Futures
2-3 November 2022

Interdisciplinarity: Creative Education Futures is a symposium which will brings together key art and design educators from Australia and the Asia region to reflect on the significance of interdisciplinary practices for art and design education. Interdisciplinary practices play a key role in the expanding creative industries and this is transforming art and design education. Interdisciplinary approaches foster new forms of innovation and creativity and offer an opportunity to reconsider assumed structures of education. They create an opportunity to be more inclusive of skills such as collaboration, communication, creativity and critical thinking; skills which are increasingly valued as education looks towards future industries and twenty-first century graduate outcomes. Over two days, four panels will discuss the challenges and opportunities for transforming art and design education, exploring key issues in planning for the future needs of students.
