What is This? Thresholds and transgressions in design, art and performance is an exhibition encompassing live activation of sculptural objects, wearables and spatial design elements by artist, maker, and designer Anastasia La Fey and performance artist and choreographer Holly Durant, with layered video and sound works by cinematographer Lucy Pijnenburg and sound artist Sara Retallick.

Innovative design, developed through and beyond function, expands preconceived confines of “design” into realms that encompass artistic value, social and environmental attention, and imaginative human experience.

Creating inhabitable spaces, the creatives disrupt concrete definitions and formal delineations in design, opening fluid approaches intertwined with art and daily life that encourage communication, cooperation and change.

Proudly presented in partnership with The Capitol — RMIT
